South Pasadena Plein Air Paint-out 2009
With the Califonia Art Club. The SouthPas Chamber and area businesses will host a month-long paint-out, starting on Saturday, September 5th and culminating at ArtsFest on October 3rd, 2009. This year's theme is "South Pasadena, City of Trees".

Landmark fauna and flora of South Pasadena have been mapped [at Maps.Google.com] for members of the California Art Club in their 2nd annual Plein Air Paint Out. The Paint-out starts Saturday, September 5th at 9am at the corner of El Centro and Fairview by the Library's giant Morton Bay Fig tree. Legacy trees throughout South Pasadena are identified on the map, and painters are encouraged to explore the Arroyo, Garfield Park, Oak Lawn Bridge and numerous other locations throughout South Pasadena. A reception for the artists will occur back at the big tree at 4pm. Paintings submitted by the artists will be shown at the Collectors' Preview Friday October 2 [$25 per person at the door] and at a special Exhibition, 5pm to 10pm at ArtsFest Saturday, October 3, 2009. Select works juried by the California Art Club will then be exhibited at SoPas Gallery throughout October.
ArtsFest, Saturday, October 3rd is an evening of gallery tours and festivities to celebrate the arts – in galleries, restaurants and merchants throughout the town. Attractions include a nine gallery tour, a special exhibit of South Pasadena paintings by California Art Club artists, theater, live entertainment, shopping, dining and other fun activities. ArtsFest is Saturday, October 3rd 2009 from 5pm to 10pm. Area merchants will hold open houses with guest artisans and crafters, and select restaurants will host live entertainers.
